Hellmann and bayernhafen Gruppe celebrate successful launch of the Nuremberg – Chengdu rail link
Chinese delegation visits bayernhafen Gruppe
Nuremberg, 15 December 2015. Since October, a weekly intermodal rail connection links bayernhafen Nürnberg to the West Chinese metropole of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province - incidentally, only the fourth intermodal rail connection between Germany and China.
The operators of ‘Rail Eurasia’, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and bayernhafen Gruppe, invited interested parties to Nuremberg for an informative evening reception to celebrate the successful launch of the new rail connection. Around 80 invited guests learned about the new rail link and discussed developments and trends in freight transport to China.
A delegation led by the Mayor of Chengdu, Liu Shoucheng, had travelled especially to attend the event and was accompanied by the Consul General in Germany, Zhu Wanjin. As representative of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the Parliamentary Secretary of State Dorothée Bär took time out from her appointments and meetings during the Parliamentary sessions in Berlin to acknowledge the economic importance of the new rail connection. Nuremberg’s Spokesman on Economic Affairs, Dr Michael Fraas, emphasised the traditionally close relationship between the metropolitan region of Nuremberg and China, which, through the new rail connection, would not only benefit the freight village, but also the whole of Bavaria.
