The balance of interests

"The freedom of the individual ends with the freedom of others." Words to this effect can be found in the New Testament and also in works by Thomas Hobbes, Immanuel Kant or Rosa Luxemburg, and this idea has now been incorporated into the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany. Article 2 of this law states: "Everyone has the right to the free expression of their personality provided that they do not violate the rights of others (and do not breach the constitutional order or the moral law)."
